We created EverGuard after a blackout in Spain showed us how unprepared we were. Now we help European families avoid that same helplessness.
Our Story
It Started With a Blackout. And a Scared Little Girl.
In 2024, a blackout hit during our holiday in Spain.
No power. No plan. Just a scared little girl looking to us for protection we couldn't give.
The power went out without warning. Networks failed. ATMs stopped working. And suddenly, simple questions became urgent problems:
- How do we pay for food without power?
- How do we charge our phones to get emergency updates?
- How do we keep the lights on?
- Most importantly—how do we keep our child calm when everything feels uncertain?
The stress was overwhelming. The uncertainty was suffocating.
We had no plan. No supplies. No system. We scrambled in the dark.
When the power came back, we made ourselves a promise:
Never again. And no other family should feel this helpless.
After that night, we spent months obsessing over one question: How do we prepare properly?
We studied EU civil-protection recommendations. We consulted emergency preparedness experts. We tested dozens of products. And everywhere we looked, we found the same problem:
Information was scattered. Products were confusing. There was no single, practical way to prepare a simple "grab-and-go" system.
You either ended up with random gear thrown together, or you felt overwhelmed by extreme "prepper" culture that didn't fit normal family life.
We knew there had to be a better way.
So we created EverGuard - not as a business first, but as the solution we wished existed when our family needed it most.

Martin focuses on systems and processes. Sofia focuses on making things accessible and human. Together, we're not emergency experts - we're just working parents who experienced a crisis firsthand.
We live between Bulgaria and the Netherlands with our two children. We built EverGuard in the margins - early mornings, late nights, nap times - because the people you love deserve to feel safe.
